How to print a poster on several sheets of paper

  1. Add your image. The tool starts in Poster on several sheets at 24 × 18 in. Pick another poster size or type your own, up to 2 m on each side.
  2. Check the pages. Each dashed box in the preview is one printed page, labeled A1, A2, B1... The note shows how many pages you need and if the other paper orientation needs fewer.
  3. Print, trim and join. Print every page at Actual size. Trim along the marks, lay the pages out by label and tape them together from the back.

How many pages does a poster need?

These counts use the paper orientation that needs the fewest pages. Each page uses its printable area inside a 10 mm margin, so the pieces join edge to edge after trimming.

Image resolution for posters

Posters are seen from farther away, so 100 to 150 PPI usually looks good. A 24 × 36 in poster at 150 PPI needs about 3600 × 5400 pixels. The resolution indicator under the preview adjusts its advice in poster mode.

Do the pages overlap?

No. Trim the white margin on the marks and butt the pages together. Tape on the back keeps the joins clean.

Can I print the poster on A4?

Yes. Choose A4 in step 03. The page count updates right away.

PHOTO PRINT SIZES

Common photo print sizes and the pixels you need

Around 300 pixels per inch (PPI) gives sharp detail for photos viewed up close. 150 PPI is a practical minimum for casual prints. Every size below fits on US Letter and A4 paper with PrintScaling.

Working in centimeters? See how to print an image in cm on A4. 8 × 10 in and larger prints do not fit inside the 10 mm safety margin of a single US Letter or A4 sheet. Use Poster on several sheets for those.

Printing at actual size: common questions

How do I print a 4 × 6 photo on US Letter paper?

Upload your photo, choose the 4 × 6 in preset, and select US Letter paper. Use Fit entire image to preserve the whole photo, or Fill and crop to fill the frame. Download the PDF and print it at Actual size or 100%, with Fit to page turned off.

Can I set an image size in centimeters or millimeters?

Yes. Select cm or mm in Image dimensions, then enter the printed width and height. The PDF uses these physical dimensions. Your printer settings must still use 100% scale, and the image must fit inside the selected sheet margins.

Why does the image look a different size on screen?

The preview is scaled to fit your screen. The PDF contains the actual physical dimensions. To preserve them, print at 100% with all scaling turned off in your PDF viewer and printer settings.

Will my image look sharp?

The resolution indicator estimates pixels per inch at your chosen print size. Around 300 PPI is a useful target for detailed photos. Lower-resolution images may look softer. Exporting a PDF does not add missing detail.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Your image and PDF are processed locally in this browser. This tool uses no accounts, upload service, or external image processing.

Can I print several copies on one sheet?

Yes. In step 03, choose As many as fit under Copies on the sheet. The tool fills the page with copies of the same photo at the exact size, turns them 90° when that fits more, and adds crop marks between them. See how many copies fit for common sizes.

Can I print larger than one sheet?

Yes. In step 03, choose Poster on several sheets. Set the poster size, up to 2 m on each side, and PrintScaling splits it into labeled Letter or A4 pages with trim marks. Trim each page and join them by label. See how to print a poster at home.
