The key to printing at the right size
In your print dialog, select “Actual size” or “100%”. Turn off “Fit to page.” Settings by app
For a sharp 4 × 6 print, aim for about 1200 × 1800 pixels (300 PPI). Most phone photos are far above that. Around 600 × 900 pixels (150 PPI) still works for casual prints.
If your printer has a 4 × 6 photo tray, printing the original file from your photo app at borderless 4 × 6 is often simpler. PrintScaling is made for the common case: you only have Letter paper and want the exact size with guides to trim.
Yes. Choose As many as fit under Copies on the sheet. Two copies of the same photo fit on Letter, with crop marks between them. Different photos on one sheet are not supported yet.
Yes, when the PDF is printed at 100% or Actual size. Measure the 20 mm calibration mark to confirm your printer settings.

Choose the frame’s printed size. Fit the whole image or crop to fill.
Open the PDF, select the matching paper size, and measure the 20 mm mark with a ruler.
Around 300 pixels per inch (PPI) gives sharp detail for photos viewed up close. 150 PPI is a practical minimum for casual prints. Every size below fits on US Letter and A4 paper with PrintScaling.
| Print size | Inches | Centimeters | Sharp (300 PPI) | Minimum (150 PPI) | Action |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wallet | 2.5 × 3.5 in | 6.4 × 8.9 cm | 750 × 1050 | 375 × 525 | |
| 3.5 × 5 | 3.5 × 5 in | 8.9 × 12.7 cm | 1050 × 1500 | 525 × 750 | |

Working in centimeters? See how to print an image in cm on A4. 8 × 10 in and larger prints do not fit inside the 10 mm safety margin of a single US Letter or A4 sheet.
Most size problems come from the print dialog, not the file. Your PDF already has the exact physical size. These settings keep it that way.
Open the PDF, press Print, then open More settings. Set Scale to Default, Actual size or Custom 100. Avoid Fit to page and Fit to printable area.
In the Print dialog, under Page Sizing & Handling, choose Actual size. Leave Choose paper source by PDF page size unchecked if your printer picks the wrong tray.
Choose File › Print, show details if needed, then select Scale: 100% instead of Scale to Fit. Check that the paper size matches the PDF.
Some printer drivers add their own scaling. In Printer properties or Preferences, turn off Fit to paper, Borderless and Auto reduce, and select the same paper size.
Check before printing many copies: print one page and measure the 20 mm calibration mark with a ruler. If it measures 20 mm, your printout is at actual size.
Upload your photo, choose the 4 × 6 in preset, and select US Letter paper. Use Fit entire image to preserve the whole photo, or Fill and crop to fill the frame. Download the PDF and print it at Actual size or 100%, with Fit to page turned off.
Yes. Select cm or mm in Image dimensions, then enter the printed width and height. The PDF uses these physical dimensions. Your printer settings must still use 100% scale, and the image must fit inside the selected sheet margins.
The preview is scaled to fit your screen. The PDF contains the actual physical dimensions. To preserve them, print at 100% with all scaling turned off in your PDF viewer and printer settings.
The resolution indicator estimates pixels per inch at your chosen print size. Around 300 PPI is a useful target for detailed photos. Lower-resolution images may look softer. Exporting a PDF does not add missing detail.

Yes. In step 03, choose As many as fit under Copies on the sheet. The tool fills the page with copies of the same photo at the exact size, turns them 90° when that fits more, and adds crop marks between them. See how many copies fit for common sizes.
This first version places one image on US Letter or A4 paper with at least 10 mm (about 0.4 in) of margin. Oversized images are flagged. Multi-page poster printing is not included yet.
